Oklahoma FTC Season – General Questions
What is the deadline for registering a team for the 2020-2021 season?
12/31/2020. If your organization has a specific reason that you cannot register by this deadline, please contact Travis Smith (tsmith@firstpartners.org) and possible accommodations can be discussed.
What is the registration fee for Oklahoma FTC for the 2020-2021 season?
For 2020-2021, the FIRST Registration fee is $275 paid on the team dashboard at firstinspires.org. In addition, to compete in Oklahoma FTC for this season, the registration fee is $150 for this season (reduced from $250). The Oklahoma registration fee includes fees for participating in all league meets, the league tournament, the Last Chance Qualifier, and the state championship for teams that qualify.
League Meet System
How many leagues will Oklahoma have?
For 2020-2021, there will be a single “super league” for the state of Oklahoma.
How many league meets will there be?
Five.
When will the league meets be?
Please refer to the events calendar.
How long will teams have to submit their scores for their league matches?
Teams will have approximately 6 days to submit results from their rounds. Please be sure to follow the rules for completing rounds and submitting scores.
Do all official competition matches have to be run on the same day?
No. Teams can spread the matches out across multiple days.
Can all official competition matches be run on the same day?
Yes.
Do all official matches need to be recorded?
It is highly recommended that all official competition matches be recorded and teams be prepared to submit the videos for review.
<strong> </strong>How many teams will participate in a league meet?
There is no limit to the number of teams that are able to participate in the league meet. It is possible that every team in the state will participate in any given league meet.
Will league meets be in person or remote?
All league meets will be remote.
How many league meets can a team participate?
As many as they want. There will be approximately 6 league meets. Teams can participate in all of them if they want. We recommend competing in a minimum of two league meets (6 matches each).
What scores from league meets count towards League Tournaments?
The team’s top 10 scores from all league meets will be used to calculate their ranking points going into a league tournament.
How many matches will a team have for each league meet?
Each team can submit up to 6 competition matches for each league meet.
What if our team doesn’t want to participate in the league system this year?
Teams that do not want to participate in league meets do not have to participate in league meets. All teams will still have 2 opportunities to advance. The first opportunity will be through one of the league tournaments and the second opportunity will be with the Last Chance Qualifier. Teams that do not participate in league meets will enter the league tournament with no ranking points and will be at a disadvantage vs. teams that have participated in league meets.
Will there be training on how to enter scores in the FTC remote scoring system?
Yes. Stay tuned for announcements regarding training for remote events.
When will results from each of the league meets be shared?
It is expected that the results of the league meets will be published within 24 hours of the completion of the league meet.
What happens if we have technical difficulties and are unable to submit our results in time?
We will provide an option for teams to call in their results. Teams who will need to call in results need to notify the event contact before the event deadline to make arrangements to call in results.
League Tournaments
How many League Tournaments will Oklahoma have?
Oklahoma FTC is currently planning on having four League Tournaments.
When will the league tournaments be?
League tournaments are planned for Saturdays in February and March. Refer to the Oklahoma FTC calendar for specific dates and locations.
Will League Tournaments be remote or in-person events?
All League Tournaments are planned to be in-person events, although there is an alternative plan to convert to remote events should conditions warrant.
Will the League Tournament include judging?
Yes. League Tournaments will operate as full qualifiers with matches and judging. However, all team judging will take place during the week prior to the League Tournament.
Will there be callbacks from the Judges & how will that work?
We are still working through the plan for call backs.
How many teams will advance from each League Tournament?
To be finalized. At this time, it is expected that four teams will advance from each League Tournament.
How many teams will compete in each League Tournament?
To be finalized. At this time, it is expected that 16-20 teams will compete in each league tournament.
How many members of each team will be allowed to participate in League Tournaments?
To be finalized. All members will be able to participate in remote judging. However, it may be necessary to limit the number of people who attend a league tournament, which may require that the number of participants from each team be constrained.
How many matches will each team play at the League Tournament?
To be finalized. At this time, it is likely that each team will play 5-6 qualifying matches (plus playoff matches, if selected).
Will there be alliance selections and semi & final rounds at the League Tournament?
Yes. These qualifiers will operate the same way as traditional qualifiers.
Will there be an awards ceremony at each League Tournament?
Yes. More details will be provided ahead of the events.
Will spectators be allowed at the League Tournaments?
Based on the current pandemic status, it is anticipated that these events will be closed to spectators. Only authorized members of the teams and volunteers will be allowed to be in attendance at League Tournaments. The situation will be re-evaluated as the event dates approach.
Will the League Tournaments be broadcast?
Yes. Details will be provided prior to the events.
Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ)
Who can participate in the Last Chance Qualifier?
Any team that did not advance to the State Championship event will be allowed to participate in the Last Chance Qualifier.
How many teams will advance from the Last Chance Qualifier?
To be finalized. At this time, it is expected that four teams will advance from the Last Chance Qualifier.
Will results from League Meets or League Tournaments be a factor in the LCQ?
No. Scores will not be carried over from any previous event.
Will the LCQ be a remote or in-person event?
The LCQ will be a remote event.
Will there be judging for the LCQ?
Yes. All judging will be performed remotely during the week of the LCQ.
Will there be judging callbacks for the LCQ?
Yes. Details are being worked out and will be communicated to teams prior to the event.
How many matches will each team play at the LCQ?
To be finalized. At this time, it is likely that each team will play 5-6 qualifying matches.
Will there be alliance selections and semi & final rounds at the LCQ?
No. Top performers will be based on the matches submitted by each team.
Will there be an awards ceremony for the LCQ?
Yes. It will be conducted as a remote ceremony. More details will be provided ahead of the event.

Judging
Do we need to submit engineering documentation at the league meets?
No.
Do we need to submit engineering documentation at the league tournament, LCQ, and State Championship?
Yes, Engineering Documentation will be examined by the judges at these events.
State Championship
Will the state championship be a remote or in-person event?
The current plan is for the state championship to be an in-person event. However, an alternative plan will be in place to convert it to a remote event if necessar
Where will the 2020-2021 state championship be located?
Not yet finalized. It is expected that the state championship event will be held at SWOSU in Weatherford, OK.
Will the state championship be a two day event as it has been in the past?
No. The event will be shortened to a one day event. Details will be provided prior to the event.

Not Yet Finalized. It is expected that the championship will be in April. Watch the calendar for updates.
Will the League Tournament include judging?
Yes. League Tournaments will operate as full qualifiers with matches and judging. However, all team judging will take place during the week prior to the League Tournament.
